About your Embrace Europe hostess Lorrie:

As a life long Europhile, I always dreamt of traveling to Europe!! At 10, I planned to work for the airlines as a means to get there. At 12, I had 16 pen-pals; all in different European countries trying to absorb and learn as much as I could about their different cultures. At 16, I planned to be an interpreter for the government as a means for travel. At 17, my family hosted a German exchange student through my high school. They stayed with us and then that summer, we were supposed to stay with them and their families! So, alas, I was really finally going to Europe!! Or so I thought…. sadly, my side of the trip was cancelled due to the Chernobyl incident.

Life went on and my career path changed, but my yearning for Europe never faded. Then magically, in 2018, a good friend of mine asked if I would like to come and help her with her business that happened to be in Italy. I was shocked and speechless, but within seconds, I accepted her offer with tremendous gratitude! So that May, I boarded my first international flight bound for Frankfurt! I was heading first to visit my German exchange student and her family; even if it was 32 years later! That trip took me to Germany, the Netherlands and Italy and it ignited a passion for travel like never before! It changed everything! How I saw myself and the world and it left me forever changed and wanting for so much more!! Since then I have had the great fortune of traveling throughout Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy and Austria. As well as some shorter visits to Ireland, Belgium, Denmark and a day trip to Prague.

In order to accomplish this, I have taken planes, trains, automobiles and boats. I learned very quickly that independent European travel can be incredibly challenging and stressful and that getting from place to place rarely easy. I consider myself a master planner, but whether you plan for yourself or have a travel agent plan it for you, it is impossible to prepare for unforeseen situations. Public transportation requires you to be on a time table and can present challenges like: train strikes, overbooked or canceled transportation, limited luggage storage and stations with no elevators or escalators( but definitely lots of stairs). The alternative to public transportation is car rental which presents its own set of challenges. Driving in foreign countries requires lots of signage and foreign language knowledge and can be daunting and sometimes scary. The driver, often misses out on all of the beautiful scenery because they need to maintain focus. Once you arrive at your first destination, you still have more hurdles ahead of you; locating hotels, the check-in process, navigating your way to all of your sight-seeing destinations, etc. In addition, moving from place to place also requires a lot of unpacking, re-packing and unpacking again. These are just travel realities. I have experienced all of the above and more which is what inspired me to think about a new way to travel.  Imagine not having to deal with any of this!  Who wants to feel like they are participating on an episode of The Amazing Race? What if I could make it far less stressful not just for myself and my family but for others as well?

This is why I wanted to provide a travel opportunity without challenges and inconveniences, so travelers can experience everything to the fullest! That can’t happen if there is too much extraneous “noise” and stress navigating from place to place. I want this experience to be life altering, for people to leave their experience forever changed and craving more!
